Pyne to Race V8 Supercar
12/07/2006

Accelerated Enterprises has today officially launched a campaign to contest the remainder of the 2006 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series. Clayton Pyne will return to the track for the team, piloting an ex-Larry Perkins VX V8 Supercar. The car will be prepared by Pyne's own Accelerated Enterprises personnel. In recent years Clayton featured in the National Formula Ford Series in seasons 2003/4 before winding back racing commitments to focus on his academic pursuits and his professional career. Clayton now returns to the track on August 11th at Oran Park Raceway for Round 4 of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series.

The team look forward in excited anticipation for their first hit-out. "Its just great to be back in the seat and to be back out there in what is Australia's most elite motorsport category - V8 Supercar.... its just a dream come true", Clayton enthused. The team have had two test days thus far. After doing minimal laps in his VX at Oran Park on the handover day from then owners "Jay Motorsport", Clayton has tested at Wakefield and at Oran Park since. "The car is so remarkably different from anything I have ever driven. I'm really learning a lot about how to drive these cars. I have learnt quickly that looking after those rear tyres is a real challenge!". The team is now preparing the car from its Hunter Valley base for one more test day at Oran Park in early August in anticipation of the round there one week after. "I really look forward to Oran Park. Its going to be a steep learning curve for all of the team. We have set modest goals for ourselves this year as we understand the time it takes in motorsport - especially V8 Supercar which is fiercely competitive".

Clayton is no stranger to success in motorsport having toughed it out in the European go karting scene in Juniors culminating in a 3rd at the Margutti Cup in Italy in 1997 and racing alongside Michael Schumacher for the TonyKart factory team in 1996 at the Monaco Race of Champions. Clayton has also had the diverse experience of driving a dirt speedway midget for Smith & Woods in Australia, along with being the youngest ever to win a speedway Super Sedan race in Australia. Soon after this, came a couple of years in open wheel and a couple of drives in Super Touring Cars, but now comes the greatest challenge of all - V8 Supercar. Its a challenge the team doesnt take lightly, but if history is any indicator of future success, be assured that the Accelerated Enterprises team will be gently moving toward their goals.
