CLAYTON Pyne is 'Getting into the Right Gear' with the renewed support of national automotive retailer Auto One and the No. 1 spark plug company in Australia, NGK, as he prepares for his first ever assault on the streets of Adelaide.
Releasing the news today, Auto One’s General Manager, Alex Bowler said “we are yet again very pleased to be supporting one of Australia’s emerging V8 Supercar talents in Clayton as he tackles one of the most gruelling yet celebrated races of the year – the hot confined streets of the Adelaide Parklands circuit”.
After parking the ex-Perkins machine the team successfully campaigned in last year’s series, Pyne has quietly spent his time working with business partners & focussing on finding the right opportunity for the upcoming season.
That opportunity came a lot closer to home than Pyne ever realised.

Pyne, born & bred in the Hunter Valley wine region of Mount View near Cessnock, has teamed up with Newcastle based Prodigy Motorsport for the season opener.
“We are delighted to have Clayton on board”, Prodigy Motorsport Team Manager, Gary Goldsworthy explained. “We watched Clayton’s progress closely last year and we certainly had him earmarked as a young guy to keep an eye on.”
“We have built a very solid outfit here in Newcastle. A balanced, measured approach to our weekend in Adelaide, should ensure some good results for Clayton come race two.”
For Pyne, it’s an opportunity that doesn’t come along every day: “The last couple of weeks have been surreal. I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the Auto One BA Falcon. Adelaide is one of the great events of the year and I am just ecstatic to have the opportunity of a competitive seat at the start of the Championship”.
Pyne continued, “The streets of Adelaide can be punishing & that’s a point I don’t take lightly having never driven there before. It’s a new car and a new circuit for me - I will be looking to simply improve each session and build toward some speed when it matters”.
The action starts with Round 1 of the 2007 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series this Thursday March 1st. |
